Giving Hearts Day 2024

GHD-STACKED-DATE-2023-RED_WhiteHeart

February 8th is Giving Hearts Day, and A Place For Hope is excited to be part of this communal fundraising event for the second year.

Our mission is to provide a safe, enriching, and supportive recovery environment for adults living with mental illness.

We are working to include the Eight Dimensions of Wellness into the services we provide to our members.  Those dimensions are: Emotional, Environmental, Financial, Intellectual, Occupational, Physical, Social, and Spiritual.

A part of that effort is to ensure that our members and the community who are experiencing food insecurity have access to a variety of food options.

Fast Facts

  • 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year
  • 1 in 20 U.S. adults experience serious mental illness each year
  • 50% of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14, and 75% by age 24

People with depression have a 40% higher risk of developing cardiovascular and metabolic diseases than the general population.  People with serious mental illness are nearly twice as likely to develop these conditions.  32.1% of U.S. adults with mental illness also experienced a substance use disorder in 2020 (17 million individuals)

In 2022, A Place for Hope provided its members 480 educational and recreational activities.

Over 382,000 pounds of food was graciously served by volunteers who have spent over 8,500 hours to help keep our members and our community from going hungry.

Please join us on Giving Hearts Day, February 9th, to help A Place for Hope continue to provide life changing programs to our members.
