Is there
a long waiting list?
No. We will have an informational orientation session and an
initial intake appointment at your earliest convenience.
Program nights are offered bi-weekly.
What happens at the intake
appointment?
We explain the program to the family. Questions are answered.
A tour is given. During this time, you will meet with an
intake specialist who will ask you questions to
help you decide if Kathy's Place 4 Hope will be beneficial for
you and you child(ren). If so, a family meeting with you
and the children will be arranged. At this meeting your
children will be asked some questions about their
experience.
How long
after the death does a family need to wait before
calling?
A family can call and start the process for participation as
soon as they are ready. We believe each person and
family grieves differently, and the family is the best
judge of when they are ready to join the group.
What if a
member needs private therapy?
Kathy's Place 4 Hope
does not provide individual therapy or
counseling. We have a list of referral therapists who
counsel children, teens, and/or adults with grief issues. Upon
request we will provide information we have about
individual therapists. We will provide information by
which a family can select a therapist for their
particular needs and budget.
Is there a cost to
attend
Kathy's Place 4
Hope?
Kathy's Place 4 Hopeasks
for a small donation of $5 a meeting to help cover the
costs of program night. The families are also asked to
sign an agreement to maintain regular
attendance, as consistency is very important to this
process. However, no family is ever denied services
because they cannot contribute. Because Kathy's Place 4 Hopeis
a nonprofit organization, we rely on contributions from
the community.
