In this section of our website we want to share some information which we hope you will find helpful if you know or are involved in the life of a grieving child.
It can be difficult to know what to say or what not to say. A simple statement that you care is often the most important message you can send.
Grief can be expressed in many ways and children often have more physical syptoms, such as headaches and stomachaches.
Mourning involves cognitive as well emotional processing of the emotions, memories and future implications of the death. Children often mourn in waves rather then all at once. Caregivers can be suprised by the suddenness and intensity of emotions and behavioral changes after months of calm.
Feel free to contact us. We can help answer your questions. Also, you can come in to use our library of books for and about children and bereavement.
We are also available for consultation with individuals or groups if you have questions.
